     Laparoscopic surgery is a modern method for performing surgical procedures. To carry out these operations, a thin telescope (laparoscope) is used, connected to a special video camera, which transmits the images to a television screen. The laparoscope is inserted into the abdomen or chest through a small incision (5-10mm), and the surgeon can see the internal organs very clearly. Cannulas (small tubes) are inserted through small additional incisions. They are used to insert thin and delicate instruments with which the surgery will be performed. In this way, the surgeon can perform the operation by looking on a television screen, without the need to make large incisions in the skin.
